Privacy Policy
This policy explains what ClipRoyalty collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@cliproyalty.com.
1. Who we are
ClipRoyalty ("ClipRoyalty," "we," "us") operates a marketplace that connects brands with independent creators who make genuine original videos about those brands. This policy applies to the ClipRoyalty website, web app, and related services (together, the "Service"). It covers both creators and brand users.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name or handle, email address, password, and account role (creator or brand).
- Profile details — the social handles you add (such as your public YouTube channel), your content niche, your rate card, and any bio or links you provide.
- Brand details — company name, work email, campaign briefs, product information, and approval decisions.
- Payout details — the information our payment processor needs to pay you (such as your PayPal email or bank/ACH details). We do not store full bank credentials on our own servers; these are handled by our payment processor.
- Content you submit — draft video links, published video links, messages, and support requests.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage & device data — pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location, browser and device type, and IP address.
- Attribution data — when a viewer clicks a tracked link or uses a promo code tied to your video, we record the click and any resulting conversion the brand reports, so creators can be paid accurately.
- View metrics — verified public view counts for videos in a campaign, used to calculate earnings.
Information from third parties
- Public platform data — statistics we read from public APIs (for example, the YouTube Data API) about channels and videos you connect. See section 4.
- Payment status — confirmations from our payment processor that a payout succeeded or failed.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Operate the marketplace — create accounts, match creators with brands, and run the draft-approval and publishing workflow.
- Verify views and calculate and pay earnings.
- Help brands discover creators by real, verified reach, niche, and rate.
- Detect and prevent fraud, fake views, bots, and abuse.
- Send transactional emails (submission received, draft approved, payout sent, and similar) and, where permitted, occasional product updates.
- Provide support and respond to your requests.
- Improve the Service, including training our own matching and recommendation models on aggregated, de-identified activity.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
Where required by law, we rely on your consent, our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and securing the Service, or a legal obligation as the basis for these uses.
4. Public channel data (YouTube and similar)
When you add a public channel to your profile, we use public platform APIs to read publicly available statistics — such as subscriber count, recent video view counts, likes and comments, and video titles — to build a "creator snapshot" of your reach and content niche. We only read data that is already public. We do not request access to your private account, your login, or your direct messages, and we do not post on your behalf.
Our use of information from Google APIs (including the YouTube Data API) adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can remove a connected channel at any time from your profile, which stops future refreshes.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- With brands — creators' public-facing profile and snapshot data (handle, niche, reach metrics, rate card, and submitted/published videos) are visible to brands so they can evaluate and approve work. Your email and payout details are not shown to brands.
- With creators — brands' campaign briefs, product kits, and approval decisions are shared with the creators involved.
- With service providers that run the Service under contract, including: Supabase (database, authentication, and hosting), Netlify (website hosting), Resend (transactional email), Anthropic (AI classification and assistant features), Google/YouTube (public channel data), and our payment processor (payouts). These providers may only use your data to perform services for us.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and property of ClipRoyalty, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that deal.
6. Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run the Service — for example, to keep you signed in and to remember your theme preference. We use tracked links and promo codes to attribute conversions to the right creator. We do not run third-party advertising trackers. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though the Service may not work properly without the necessary ones.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. We keep certain records longer where required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it by law.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and delete, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them — and note again that we do not sell personal information. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR.
You can update most profile information directly in the app, unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in those emails, and disconnect a linked channel from your profile. To make any other request, email privacy@cliproyalty.com and we will respond within the time the law requires.
9. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security on our database, and least-privilege handling of API keys and secrets. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and regulators of a breach where the law requires.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United States and process data there and in the locations of our service providers. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers.
11. Children
The Service is for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
